POLKADOT HOUSE

Polkadot House is a grand statement of architecture. The design language takes on a progressive feel for this summer vacation destination. The structure of the house is built from highly refined concrete to create a very smooth fair-faced finish both externally and internally. The house is both linear and expansive with large glass expanses allowing the rugged and natural landscape of the Hamptons to enter the house and at the same time create a very positive sun filled living environment.
The house is structured over three floors including a basement level incorporating a cinema room, laundry and machine rom. An indoor pool and spa can be added at this basement level to include a lobby area with a bar and wine cellar. The entry is at ground level, which incorporates all the main living spaces to the house, including a large open plan galleried living room, connecting to the front and back culminating in a kitchen and dining room, a larder and cloakroom.
Off the main living space are further entertainment rooms with a library area, and secret study room. At the front of the house sunken into the landscape level is the master bedroom suite with dressing room and a large private bathroom. The upper floor has a bridge spanning the living space below, which leads to a gym overlooking the front of the house. There are 4 private bedrooms on this level, each with its own bathroom. The upper level acts as an extended art gallery circulating above the galleried living area. The social spaces on the ground floor are highly related with the topography and the landscape as the levels change.
The Upper floor exterior is adorned with cast iron discs, hence the name Polakdot House, which serve as a modesty and shading device for the private areas of the house during summer months. This detail is synonymous with the architect and provides a truly distinctive feel to this minimalist and pure composition. The palette of materials is kept to a minimum with high quality finishes themed around a monochromatic back drop which serves very well for the gallery spaces within the house.
Polkadot House can be reconfigured from its current scale of 647m2 to over 1,000m2 to include further entertaining rooms and bedroom accommodation. The incorporation of an extended basement including a swimming pool, spa lobby bar and wine cellar would further increase the scale.
Each constructed Polkadot House will be unique to each owner.
