Floating Pianos by JM Architecture

Floating Pianos is an ultra modern glass and stone beach house to be built with a high–performance glass curtain wall system able to efficiently regulate high and low temperatures for year round living. The design is based around a very airy open plan gallery like interior where the suspended floors hover above one another like floating pianos and create a very contemporary interior atmosphere. The large open spaces are conducive to the summer seasons and enable the inhabitants to maximize the complete views of the coastline and the ocean beyond, creating a light filled and positive environment. Floating Pianos is arranged over four floors accessed by an internal lift and a feature spiral grand staircase to the floating levels above.

 

On the ground floor there is a large open plan living, dining and study space, a separate piano room, and a separate cinema room. On the upper floating floor overlooking the living space is a kitchen / breakfast area overlooking the garden terraces and dune scape beyond, a large pantry, lobby area and guest bedroom and bathroom. On the top-floating floor is large master bedroom, dressing area and bathroom and two further bedrooms and bathrooms. The enclosed bedroom spaces have all the privacy one would expect from a less dynamic open structure. In the basement level there is a large swimming pool cantilevered out from the perimeter wall, a gym, treatment room, spa and extensive changing and shower rooms

 

Outside the terraces are tiered to create further entertaining spaces and vistas to the landscape and ocean beyond. The indoor and outdoor become one, whilst the tiered out door terraces enables a horizon pool to be incorporated and a full spa area built beneath that in to the basement and accessed from the garden area below. 

 

The advanced systems and basement spa enable the house to be very comfortable in cooler months. An advanced building envelope and insulation system enable this. The house includes high quality materials and equipment throughout, green technologies, and Cat–6/7 cabling in all living spaces and advanced security systems. Floating Pianos can be reconfigured from its current scale of 730m2 to well over 1,000m2 to include further entertaining rooms, family and guest bedroom accomodation and an annexe. Each constructed Floating Pianos house will be unique to each buyer.
