More than a hotel, L’AND Vineyards is an elite luxury resort with only 22 suites combining modern architecture with nature, giving an environment of sober luxury, natural harmony, and tranquility.
Established in the heart of Alentejo, in a single scene with interiors by Márcio Kogan and Michael Biberstein’s artwork at L’AND Vineyards you can take a gastronomic tour in the Michelin restaurant, refresh yourself in the Caudalie spa and sleep under the stars among the vineyards in one of the sky suites.
The L’AND Vineyards and Resort is designed by the Portuguese practice Promontorio and features a luxurious interior by Studio mk27 . Including a winery and all related purposes, individual rooms, residences, spa, suites and restaurant boasting a classy use of stone, steel, and wood and features furniture made by several artisans including Studio mk27.
The luxury resort uses earthen tones, shades of brown and black, expressed by a range of natural wooden textures. Walls of upright thin wooden slats form a texture that works with the uneven hues of the softer rug and contradicts with the firm rigidity of the black-stained timber flooring.
Polished copper globes dangle from the ceiling at various altitudes as lights, alluding to the industrial aspects of the wine making facilities. Pieces of solid trunks make side tables everywhere from interior spaces to the exterior rooms buried into the ground, open to the sky. The fireplaces are encased in steel structures as the sparks rise from a bed of dark rocks.

South of Lisbon, in amongst the unspoilt sand dunes and rice fields of Comporta, lies Sublime. A sleek boutique hotel filled with design-savvy details, and a breezy, welcoming atmosphere. Fourteen rooms in cool white-on-white, offer simple luxury.
Surrounded by a 17-acre estate of Umbrella Pines and sand dunes, cork trees and wild flowers, Sublime is minutes away from the miles of empty, white-sand beaches and turquoise seas that make this one of Portugal’s most beautiful spots.
Two low-lying ochre-coloured buildings with floor-to-ceiling glass windows — made safely visible by the words of a Gloria Gaynor song which wraps around the building — house the 14 rooms. Design is minimalist with emphasis on white, accentuated by warm wooden artefacts, such as a Balinese door, a petrified wood sculpture, and wooden circular headboards. White textures and varnished cement floors continue through the restaurant, bar and spa. A wooden deck overlooks the pool.
Friendly, local service from the owner, TAP Pilot Gonҁalo Pessoa, who is very hands on when at home. Staff will help with restaurant bookings (try the fresh fish at Sal on a nearby beach) or riding lessons (a wonderful stables is five minutes away) across the dunes and through the foam of the sea. There is a spa with sauna, steam room, massage room and indoor pool. An outdoor pool lies in the garden.
Varnished cement floors, heated in winter, meet white walls; beautiful, cotton-clad beds face good wooden desks. All rooms spill out onto a private terrace and in the colder months there is a log fire. The Owner’s Suite measures 540 square feet and has two balconies, one of which has a private hot tub. Other rooms are divided into Guest’s Suites (485 sq ft) and Friend’s room. Another 14 rooms will be added in the autumn.
Chef David João delivers regional cuisine with a modern twist - expect local oysters or sea bass with a clam risotto, drawing on his organic herb and vegetable garden for props. The local red wine from Comporta, Parus, is not to be missed.
