ALMO means creative entity, something that comes from the inside. The concept of this house is based on a central triangular courtyard that intends to be a centrifugal and centripetal force, agglutinating spaces and circulations.
The mosaic and its geometries are an Arabic legacy since the IV century and reveal complex figures where orthogonality and triangulations in 45º predominate. The triangles punctuate the house creating small disturbances in the almost 100% orthogonal mesh.
The house is structured in two floors. The upper one is more private once it is where the rooms are. The social spaces are located in the lower floor, which is highly related with the topography and the landscape.
We chose to combine two different materials, the concrete and the local stone –marble - evoking the mosaic, to create a continuous pattern and a complex geometric texture.
